What is Botox® and how does it help with reducing wrinkles?

Wrinkles form as a result of muscle movements that crease the skin, typically with expression. The wrinkles around your eyes or in the forehead/frown areas often start out as fine lines. However, if left untreated these fine lines can develop over time into permanent, deeper lines. Wrinkle reduction treatments using Botox® can both reduce the current appearance of these wrinkles and prevent them from becoming deeper or permanent in the future, thereby keeping the skin looking smoother and more youthful for years to come. The treatment is conducted by injecting a medicine, called Botox® or Botulinum Toxin Type A, directly into the muscles which contract to form the wrinkles. The medicine acts to relax these muscles which then in turn softens the wrinkles. Botox® was known as far back as the 1970s when it was used to treat a condition of the eye muscles called “strabismus”. In the 1990s, however, it was first proposed that it could be used to provide cosmetic enhancements, in particular, wrinkle reduction. The treatment can be used alone but when needed can be used in combination with a dermal filler as they complement each other to obtain the perfect results. It can be used for:
